Menlo Park, California: Meta Platforms is reportedly preparing to launch a new Applied AI Engineering Organization as part of its strategy to accelerate the development of advanced artificial intelligence systems. The move highlights the company’s growing focus on AI innovation and its ambition to compete more aggressively in the global AI race.
According to reports, the new organization will work closely with the company’s AI research and development teams to improve the performance and deployment of large-scale AI models. The initiative is expected to support Meta’s long-term goal of building more powerful AI technologies capable of handling complex real-world tasks.
The applied AI engineering group will be led by Maher Saba, a vice president within the company’s Reality Labs division. The team will report directly to Meta’s Chief Technology Officer, Andrew Bosworth, and will operate with a relatively flat organizational structure designed to promote faster decision-making and innovation.
The organization will collaborate with Meta Superintelligence Labs, a division focused on developing next-generation AI models and technologies. Together, the teams aim to build advanced data pipelines and engineering systems that can rapidly improve AI model performance and reliability.
The new unit is expected to consist of two major teams. One team will focus on building internal tools, interfaces, and infrastructure, while the second team will handle tasks such as data generation, evaluation processes, and feedback systems that help train and refine AI models.
